Muhimpundu, eighth grade
Stephen and Harriet Myers
that long ago that Myers Middle School eighth-grader Queen Muhimpundu
arrived in the United States from her native country of Congo. Now she
helps other new refugee and immigrant students.
speaks four languages: Kinyarwanda, French, Swahili and English. After
she and her family came to the U.S. about four years ago. Queen worked
hard to learn English quickly. She caught up with her peers and now is
an honor-roll student who helps other newly arrived immigrant and
school, Queen keeps her culture alive by singing and dancing at her
Muhimpundu is a wonderful young woman with much to offer. Myers is proud to recognize
her as an exceptional student for 2016-17.
