Albany High artists' work chosen for regional show

ALBANY, N.Y. (Jan. 20, 2015) -- Three works by Albany High School students have been accepted for review in the 16th Annual High School Regional Juried Art Exhibition.

The exhibition, opening Feb. 12 at the Esther Massry Gallery at The College of Saint Rose, will feature works by 104 high school students from 21 Capital Region school districts.

The Albany High student finalists and their projects are:

  • Senior Katie Myers for her two-dimensional print called “Oz;”

  • Senior Lianne Parmalee for her three-dimensional ceramic piece called “Maine;” and

  • Seniors Keivonta Graham, Marissa Lachica, Aden Suchak and Jose Vega for their video called “QT.”

A panel of art educators and judges selected their works from 425 pieces overall.

An opening reception for the exhibit will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Esther Massry Gallery, part of the Massry Center for the Arts, located at 1002 Madison Ave. An awards ceremony will follow at 7 p.m. in the center’s Picotte Recital Hall.

The exhibit will run through Feb. 25. The gallery is open Monday, Tuesday and Friday from noon–5 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday from noon-8 p.m. and Sunday noon-4 p.m.
