Albany High jazz shines at area competition
N.Y. (Feb. 28, 2017) --
Albany High School jazz musicians played and sang
their way to silver ratings on Feb. 16 at the 13th Annual
Fonda-Fultonville Jazz Festival.
Albany High fielded a total of 22 members in two
jazz ensembles under the direction of John Halvorsen. They competed
against 15 area school groups in the annual contest, held at
Fonda-Fultonville High School.
The Albany High B Flats performed Watermelon
Man, Gee Baby Ain't I Good to You and Pent Up House.
The Jazzmanian Devils – who earned the Best Rhythm Section Award –
performed Seven Steps To Heaven, Autumn Leaves and A Night
Individual All-Star awards also were presented
to the following Albany High ensemble members:
