Theatre Ensemble to present Oliver! in April

ALBANY, N.Y. (March 7, 2017) -- Albany High School’s award-winning Theatre Ensemble will present four performances of the hit musical Oliver! April 6-9.

Oliver! is based on the character Oliver Twist from Charles Dickens’ classic novel of the same name. The original version is set in Victoria-era England but the Theatre Ensemble production takes place in the present. The essential story remains the same: An orphan runs away from a miserable existence to find a better life.

Performances will be held in the Albany High auditorium at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 6 through Saturday, April 8, with a 2 p.m. performance on Sunday, April 9. Tickets are $5 for students and seniors and $15 for adults.

Oliver! is directed by Ward Dales and Gregory Theodore Marsh.

"The look has changed, but those design shifts put a whole new spin on some of the uglier social commentaries inherent in the original," Dales said.
