North Albany nurse in contention for national recognition

ALBANY, N.Y. (March 28, 2017) – North Albany Academy’s Lenore Palladino has been recognized as New York State’s top school nurse in the America’s Greatest School Nurse contest!

She was selected over more than 500 school nurses nominated across New York for exemplifying the caring and compassionate nature of nursing, a passion for the job and making a personal impact on students. She is now in contention for the national award.

While Palladino demonstrates all of these traits on a daily basis, she has been particularly dedicated to helping immigrant and refugee families receive the care they need while navigating complex medical bureaucracies.

This video tells the story of how Palladino helped one of her students from Afghanistan receive a prosthetic arm for the first time in his life. In addition to this, she has also helped a kindergarten student who arrived with an open wound on his skull receive life-saving treatment. These are just two of the countless ways she goes above and beyond to provide all of North Albany’s students with the love and care they deserve.

The public now has the opportunity to vote for the school nurse they feel most deserving.

You can vote for Palladino to be selected as America’s Greatest School Nurse at https://www.americasgreatestschoolnurse.com/ now through April 16, and may vote once daily.

The mission of the City School District of Albany is to educate and prepare all students for college and career, citizenship and life, in partnership with our diverse community. The district serves more than 9,600 students in 17 elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students, including four themed academies at Albany High School.
