Magnet elementary lottery applications available

ALBANY, N.Y. (Jan. 2, 2018) -- Applications are available for the lottery to determine 2018-19 enrollment in the City School District of Albany three magnet schools and one magnet program.

A magnet school or program focuses instruction on a particular theme and incorporates that theme across all subject areas. Students have a unique opportunity to deeply explore enriched, theme-based programs in specific areas.

The district’s magnet schools are Albany School of Humanities (ASH), Montessori Magnet School and Thomas O’Brien Academy of Science and Technology (ASH). The district also offers a themed program, the bilingual Dual Language Program, at Delaware Community School.

All are enrolled by a lottery and open to children throughout the city. Click the highlighted text to download an information booklet and application. You also can learn more here, including information about open houses Jan. 8-11.

The mission of the City School District of Albany is to work in partnership with our diverse community to engage every learner in a robust educational program designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for success. The district serves nearly 9,700 students in 18 elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students, including four themed academies at Albany High School.
