Applications available for pre-K lottery for 3-year-olds

ALBANY, N.Y. (April 8, 2019) -- Applications are available for the lottery to determine September enrollment in the City School District of Albany’s prekindergarten program for 3-year-olds.


The district offers pre-K for 3-year-olds at 15 community agencies. Your child must be 3 by Dec. 1 and live in Albany to qualify.


Download an application here. You also can pick up an application at Central Registration, located at 75 Watervliet Ave., or any of our elementary schools or community providers.


The lottery will be held on May 9, and applications are due on May 3.


Pre-K programs for 3-year-olds are offered at the follow community providers:

  • Albany Community Action Partnership/Head Start (income eligibility requiremen; call (518) 447-7345) to learn more)

    • Ann Klose First

    • Early Learning Center

    • Hackett Boulevard Center

    • Nathan Lebron Center

    • Olivia Rorie Center

  • Arbor Park Child Care Center

  • Children's Place at the Plaza: Empire State Plaza and State Education Department building

  • A Child's Place at Unity/Unity Sunshine of Albany

  • DIGI Preschool Academy, Inc

  • Trinity Nursery and Daycare


Transportation is not provided to and from pre-K programs. Families are responsible for transporting their children.

The mission of the City School District of Albany is to educate and prepare all students for college and career, citizenship and life, in partnership with our diverse community. The district serves approximately 9,500 students in 18 elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students, including four themed academies at Albany High School.
