Welcome to the 2018-19 school year!
is my pleasure to present
this year’s calendar and welcome you to the 2018-19 school year in
the City School District of Albany!
Please take time to review the contents of our annual calendar and mark
your own calendars with the exciting events and activities we have
scheduled. You will discover a wealth of information about programs,
events and activities in your child’s school and throughout the
While you page through the
calendar, please take note of the students pictured each month. These
exceptional young people are representative of the outstanding talent
and commitment of our student body. They embody our belief in the
potential of every student and our shared desire to raise achievement
and engagement for each student and family.
We strive each day to be a district of excellence with
caring relationships and engaging learning experiences that provide
equitable opportunities for all students to reach their potential. We
use culturally responsive education practices that consider students’
cultural backgrounds to guide teaching and learning. We differentiate
instruction, meaning we analyze individual student needs and adjust how
and what we teach based on those needs.
In addition, we consider a student’s social and
emotional development to be as important as his or her academic
development as we strive to educate the whole child.
Our mission is to work in partnership with our diverse
community to engage every learner in a robust educational program
designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for success as we
prepare our students for college and careers.
We have amazing faculty and staff in all roles and in
all buildings who are dedicated to our students and our district. We
have outstanding community partners committed to our goals.
Most importantly, we have exceptional students and
families striving for the best for themselves and our community.
Let’s have a fantastic school year. I look forward to
working alongside all of you in 2018-19! Together, we are all in for
