About West Hill Middle School
West Hill Middle School is the newest school in the City School District of Albany. The school opened in September 2015 to serve students in grades 6-8 who were displaced by the closure of the Brighter Choice charter middle schools at the end of the 2014-15 school year. In 2016-17, the school is serving students in grades 7-8.

The district renamed the school West Hill to honor the Albany neighborhood in which it is located.

West Hill served about 275 students in grades 6-8 during the 2015-16 school year. It will serve students in grades 7-8 only in 2016-17 as the district plans for a new middle-school location for the 2017-18 school year.
