Albany High musicians play Carnegie Hall
N.Y. (June 6, 2017) -- It’s
a sure sign of success and talent when a musician plays Carnegie Hall.
And three Albany High School musicians did just that
on Sunday in an Empire State Youth Orchestra performance at the famous
New York City concert hall.
The students, starting at left in the photo, are
junior Mara Strich, who plays flute and piccolo, sophomore Elli Sol
Strich, who plays French horn, and junior Sofia Fasullo, who plays
clarinet and bass clarinet.
“Performing at such a premier venue is certainly not something that
happens every day and we in the music department are so proud of what
they have accomplished,” said Albany High teacher John Halvorsen,
director of the Wind Ensemble.
The Empire State Youth
Orchestra is an ensemble of classical musical performing groups that
provides musically advanced students with an opportunity to perform with
other talented musicians. The three Albany High students are members of
the most advanced group, the Youth Orchestra, considered to be one of
the premiere youth orchestras in the country.
