Teacher concert and art show Jan. 24

ALBANY, N.Y. (Jan. 3, 2019) -- Experience the remarkable talents of City School District of Albany teachers at a Jan. 24 concert and art exhibit.

The Albany Friends of Music will host its annual Music Faculty Concert at 7 p.m. on Jan. 24 in the Albany High School auditorium, with music teachers from throughout the district performing solo and together. You also can check out a gallery of work by district art teachers in the Albany High lobby before or after the concert.

The event is free and open to all. Students (and families) will get a chance to see their teachers in the spotlight, for a change of pace.

Although the event is free, Albany Friends of Music will hold raffles and sell merchandise and refreshments. All money raised will be returned to programs that support district students.

Also at the event, Albany Friends of Music will unveil its new logo and recognize the Albany High artist who created it as part of an October logo-design contest.

Albany Friends of Music is a non-profit affiliate of the Albany Fund for Education that provides support for music in our schools, including its instrument donation initiative. For more information or to join the Albany Friends of Music, contact president Anne Penna at fipenna@yahoo.com or visit their website.

You can also learn more about the Albany Fund for Education by contacting AlbanyAFE@gmail.com or by visiting their website.

Join them on Jan. 24 to support the arts in Albany’s public schools!
