The Albany High School football team has received some big-name support - in the form of expertise and funding.
Former Falcon and current New York Giants' running back Dion Lewis held a virtual meeting with members of the Albany High football team on Tuesday, Dec. 15. The former Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots, now in his tenth year with the NFL, shared his path to football success in high school, college and professionally with our student-athletes.
Topping off what was already an exciting evening, the district also learned that the New York Giants will be contributing $10,000 to the Albany High football program, which will be put towards equipment.
"I am extremely grateful to Mr. Lewis and the Giants for this incredible gift that will support and grow Falcon football for years to come," said Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics Ashley Chapple.
Lewis grew up in Albany and used to regularly attend the Giants’ training camp workouts when they were held at the University at Albany.
