Albany High hockey goalie shines on ice

Albany High School's Alex Doehla plays hockey for the Mohawks

Alexander Doehla leads Section 2 in the number of saved goals.

Doehla, along with senior Matthew Trippany, play for the Mohawks varsity hockey team which is comprised of student-athletes from Albany High School, Niskayuna High School, Amserdam High School and Schenectady High School. Their home rink is at Union College.

Doehla is responsible for 471 saves and has a save percentage of .908, fifth in the league, which is based on saves vs. time played. He has clocked 816 minutes this season and played in every game.

The junior also is credited with one shut out this season and has a total of 557 career saves with the Mohawks.

Trippany earned three goals and an assist so far this season.
