Swinging into the softball season

Albany High batter and catcher at the plate

On Tuesday, our Albany High varsity softball team kicked off their season with a home game at Westland Hills. Spirits were high as the Falcons took the field, facing off against the Galway Golden Eagles.

Our Falcons put forth a stellar effort, and there was great excitement in the air as they took the lead in the fourth and fifth innings with an impressive ten run rally! Junior Caroline Baker and sophomore Julia Seniw were responsible for two powerful hits each, plus four and two RBIs (runs batted in), respectively.

Baker also earned three strikeouts in two innings on the mound and sophomore Kyleigh Stumon earned four in four innings on the mound.

In the sixth and seventh innings, the Falcons fell behind, ultimately losing the game, 19-12.

Despite the tough loss, the team kept a learning-posture, taking a moment together with coach Lance McCall after the game to debrief and strategize for their next game.

Our Falcons face off against Cohoes at 4:30 p.m. this afternoon, Wednesday, April 2, at the St. Rose Plumeri Complex.

Let's go Falcons!
