Bravo! Eight Albany High School virtuosos will represent their school on Nov. 17 at the Area All-State Music Festival of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA).
And one was selected from among thousands across New York to participate in a statewide ensemble in December.
Area All-State Concerts feature outstanding music students from high schools throughout the Capital Region performing in band, chorus, jazz band or orchestra. Students are selected based on scores they received at NYSSMA auditions last spring.
Performing at the Area All-State Concert, to be held at Saratoga Springs High School at 2 p.m.., will be:
- Amelia Colafati (orchestra, violin)
- Aine Haugh (orchestra, flute)
- Jason Lawson (choir, bass 1)
- John Nocus (choir, tenor 2)
- Themba Pieterse (band, trumpet)
- Felix Streznewski (band, tenor trombone)
- Elli Sol Strich (orchestra, French horn)
- Peter Wiley (choir, tenor 1)
One student – Elli Sol Strich – also was selected from among thousands statewide to perform in the highly selective Conference All-State Festival, which will be held in Rochester in December. This marks her second year performing in the All-State Symphonic Band.
Congratulations to all of them!
