Literacy tutor training

Share your love of reading and become a literacy tutor in the City School District of Albany!

The district will offer free training for the Oasis Tutoring Program on Saturday, Jan. 26 from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at Harriet Gibbons Student Services Center, 75 Watervliet Ave.

This program pairs adult tutors with students in kindergarten through fourth grade. Volunteer tutors help students once a week in individualized, one-to-one sessions and are provided with materials and support.

This training was rescheduled from October.

The mission of the City School District of Albanyis to work in partnership with our diverse community to engage every learner in a robust educational program designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for success. The district  serves about 9,500 students in 18 elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students, including four themed academies at Albany High School.
