Student voice was front and center during Tuesday morning’s Convocation, when City School District of Albany employees and community partners gathered to launch the new school year with the theme of equity in education.
Hosted by Albany High School senior Toussaint Santicola Jones, Convocation 2019 featured a panel of students from throughout the district engaged in a live question-and-answer session. Superintendent Kaweeda G. Adams worked alongside the students throughout the summer, empowering them to share in their own voices what equity means to them, and to our district. Spectrum News journalist Tamani Wooley served as the moderator as students shared their viewpoints.
This is Adams’ concluding message of Convocation 2019, updated to feature some of the district’s 1,700 staff members, community partners and student performers from the event.
