Perspectives in Online Learning: Tina Cardettino

Tina Cardettino

Science teacher
Albany High School

"While our time away from Albany High has brought many challenges, it is important to also focus on the many silver linings. Most importantly, this time has allowed me to connect with many of my students in a 1:1 setting. Sure, this setting is virtual, but the personalized nature of online learning fits well with my philosophy of teaching individuals, not groups. Communicating with several of my students over Google Meet has given me a chance to build relationships that I probably would not have if we were still in school.

In addition to enhanced time with students, I am also enjoying the constant collaboration that has occurred with my colleagues. Each day, I am in touch with my team members and other colleagues with an eye on improvement. We’re learning the best way to adjust to the situation, and we’re doing it together. I love having an amazing group of professionals who are always one click away."
