The City School District of Albany will hold a virtual training called “Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder” on Wednesday from 6-7:30 p.m.
The session is open to family members, educators and others who want to learn more. It will be held as a Google Meet. Get a link to the meeting here.
Autism spectrum disorder is a developmental disorder that affects communication and behaviors. It is called a spectrum disorder because there is a wide variation in the type and severity people experience, and it occurs across all ethnic, racial and economic groups.
In Wednesday’s session, participants will learn about how autism can affect a person’s ability to function in school, at home and in the community. They also will learn ways to meet the educational and social needs of children and teens on the autism spectrum.
Gina Cosgrove, Psy.D., will lead the session.
