The City School District of Albany has scheduled an additional community meeting Wednesday to allow families to learn more and ask questions about the middle school enrollment changes being planned for next school year.
Wednesday’s meeting will be held at Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School beginning at 6:30 p.m. Myers is located at 100 Elbel Court off Whitehall Road. You also will be able to watch the meeting live on the district’s YouTube channel.
The Board of Education is in the process of considering eight proposed scenarios to select a new enrollment pattern for next school year. The priority is to establish greater equity for all students in grades 6-8. The board narrowed the focus to two potential options at its March 10 meeting, and plans to make a final decision at its meeting this Thursday.
The new enrollment pattern will be phased-in beginning next fall, with students currently in fifth grade moving to sixth grade in middle school. Students currently in grades 6-7 will stay at their current school until moving on to high school. The district also is prepared to accommodate sibling preference with the new enrollment pattern.
