Thank you, National Grid!

National Grid donates a $35,000 check to Albany High's robotics team.

The Albany High School FIRST Robotics team enjoyed a special send off Wednesday, thanks to our amazing community partner, National Grid.

Team 1493, and their 100 pounds of aluminum and polycarbonate robot REIN, head to Houston next week to compete at the FIRST Robotics World Championship.

National Grid has been a long-time supporter of the Albany High School team and helped to make this trip possible with a $35,000 donation that will assist with travel expenses.

After the well wishes, including remarks from Superintendent Kaweeda G. Adams, the team showed off REIN’s prowess. And, like any good party, the utility company surprised the students with a Falcon and National Grid themed cake!

The event was covered by both the Times Union, WAMC and Spectrum News.
