On Saturday, Neel Chittur will race against some of the best high school runners in the Northeast at the prestigious Manhattan College Cross Country Invitational.
The run, held at the legendary Van Cortlandt Park course, is one of the biggest and best meets in the country, according to information provided by race organizers.
There will be varsity team races as well as the Boys' Eastern State Championship.
Philo Germano, Albany High School Class of 2013, is the last Falcon to head to New York City for the race. Germano won the Section 2 championship as a senior in the fall of 2012. It was not just the first time in Albany High’s history but also the first time since 1984 that a runner from one of the traditional Big 10 schools had earned the section title. Four years later, his unbelievable finish at nationals catapulted Syracuse to its first NCAA team championship in more than 61 years.
Congratulations and good luck to Neel - a senior - we are all rooting for you!
