The Albany High School girls’ basketball team has earned the No. 1 seed in Class AA and will open the Section 2 playoffs at home in the quarterfinals Thursday, Feb. 23.
The Falcons (17-3), regular-season champions of the Suburban Council and defending Section 2 Class AA champions, will host No. 8 Guilderland, a first-round winner over No. 9 Ballston Spa. Game time at Albany High on Feb. 23 will be 7:30 p.m., following the quarterfinal matchup between No. 4 Colonie and No. 5 Saratoga Springs. That game will tip off in the Albany High gym at 6 p.m.

If the Falcons win their quarterfinal matchup, they will advance to the semifinals to play the Colonie-Saratoga winner at Hudson Valley Community College on Monday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m.
The Albany High boys’ basketball team opens the Section 2 playoffs with a first-round game at Colonie on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. (please note that this is a change from the originally scheduled start time of 7 p.m.). Tickets are $4 and can be purchased here.
The Falcons (9-10) are the ninth seed and closed the regular season with a win at Colonie last week.
