Four members of the Albany High School swimming and diving team qualified for the state championship meet after strong performances at the Section 2 meet Feb. 17-18.
Senior Louie Cassella will compete in three events at the state meet at Ithaca College on March 3-4, and senior Carson Engstrom qualified in two events.
Cassella finished second at sectionals in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.67 seconds) and the 50 freestyle (21.78 seconds). He also joined Engstrom on the Falcons’ third-place 200 medley relay team, along with senior Cosmo Martinelli and sophomore Ya’ir Sasson (1:39.70). The relay team (pictured) also advanced to the state meet.
Engstrom also will compete in the 100 backstroke at states after his third-place finish at sectionals (53.46 seconds).
