After the use of our final snow/emergency day earlier this month, the City School District of Albany is making the following changes to our school calendar for the spring.
- Friday, April 7 will be a professional development day for employees. There will be no school for students.
- Tuesday, May 16 (budget vote day) will be a regular school day.
The district used the third and final snow/emergency day on March 14, a day on which the governor declared a state of emergency due to the weather. However, that provision only would have applied to our district if we had no snow/emergency days left to take on March 14.
If we had been out of snow/emergency days prior to March 14, we would have been able to close that day and the governor’s declared state of emergency would have allowed us to appeal at the end of the school year to request that that extra day off not count against us for our 2022-23 school calendar. Since we did have a snow/emergency day available for March 14, the opportunity to appeal to the state to have that day rescinded is not available to us.
Also as a reminder, we used our first two snow/emergency days on Jan. 23 and Feb. 3. As a result of those two snow days, please also note that Friday, May 26 and Tuesday, May 30 will be regular days of school and work for all students and employees.
If you have any additional questions about these days, please contact your principal.
