Albany High School robotics team 1493 and their robot Dr. K were in eighth place Saturday morning at the New York Tech Valley Regional FIRST Robotics competition, but they were unable to recapture the championship title in the afternoon semifinals.
The Falcons and their robot Dr. K were eighth out of 48 when they finished qualifying rounds Saturday morning. They advanced, winning their first match but losing the next two. They were eliminated from the semifinals after their final loss.

Volunteer mentors for the team include engineer Jake Ennis from National Grid and professor Paul Schick from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
