The City School District of Albany will continue to limit outdoor activities Thursday because of the air-quality concerns that persist for the Capital Region and much of New York state due to the Canadian wildfires.
- All physical education classes will remain inside Thursday, and recess activities also will remain inside.
- All outdoor field trips will be postponed and rescheduled.
- The district will not provide transportation to Thursday afternoon’s Just Run program at Mohonasen High School, which was postponed Wednesday due to the air-quality concerns. Parents and guardians who wish to provide their own transportation to the Just Run event should plan to pick their children up at school. The Just Run event begins at 3 p.m.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s air-quality health advisories for all regions of the state remain in effect Thursday.
On Wednesday, Governor Hochul described the state’s air-quality issues as an emergency situation and indicated that the problem could linger into the weekend.
“I am encouraging everyone in impacted regions across the state to stay indoors and reduce your exposure to this harmful smoke until air quality improves," she said.
