The City School District of Albany will return to regular procedures for outdoor activities Friday after an upgrade in the Capital Region’s air-quality status from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
The DEC’s health-care advisory for the region improved from Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups and a Maximum Air Quality Index of 130 on Thursday, to Moderate with a Maximum AQI of 51 for Friday.
Outdoor activities such as physical education and recess may return outside. Field trips also may proceed as scheduled Friday. We will continue to have masks available for any students or employees who may need or request one.
We will continue to monitor the DEC’s guidance on air-quality standards and outdoor activities through the weekend as the Canadian wildfires that have caused this week’s health concerns are still burning.
