Falcons excel at states; advance to nationals

Four track runners pose with their coach and their medals.

Next weekend, Albany High School's 4x400-meter team will head to Philadelphia to compete in the New Balance Nationals for track and field.

This comes on the heels of the team's fourth-place finish this past weekend at states in Syracuse with a time 3:25.07. The lightning-fast quartet of Rohan Edwards-Grant, Adam Elia, Daaron Harrell and Malachi Young missed third place by just one-hundredth of a second. The relay team went into the meet seeded eighth.

Eleventh-grader Samir Gardner is ranked ninth in the state after his performance in the long jump at states. Young also placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles, and Edwards-Grant earned 13th place in the 100 meters.

Congratulations Falcons, including coach Elliott Croskey! Continue to practice hard this week and best of luck next weekend!
