Board elects Chittur as president for 2024-25

The City School District of Albany Board of Education has elected Sridar Chittur, Ph.D., to serve as president in 2024-25.

The board elected Dr. Chittur unanimously at its July 11 meeting.

Dr. Chittur, who served as board secretary for the previous three years, was first elected to the board in November 2016. He was re-elected to a full four-year term in May 2021.

The board also unanimously elected Tabetha Wilson to serve as vice president in 2024-25. First appointed to fill a vacant seat in September 2017, she was elected to her first full four-year term in May 2018 and re-elected in 2022. She has previously served as board secretary earlier in her tenure. 

The board also elected Ellen Krejci to serve as secretary. Krejci first was elected to the board in November 2015 and was re-elected in May 2018 and May 2022. 

Hassan Elminyawi also was sworn in at the July 11 meeting to begin a new four-year term. He was re-elected in May for a second four-year term after initially being appointed in September 2019 to fill the final eight months of a term following a previous board member's resignation.
