If your City School District of Albany student rides a yellow bus, or if you are waiting for your student to be assigned to a route, please watch your mail in the coming days for a letter with updates for your student’s bus schedule and stop location.
These changes will take effect on Thursday, Sept. 19.
This is a few days earlier than the timeline we had originally planned for our first route changes of the new year. We have moved that timeline up to serve a high number of new students who have enrolled in our district since the start of September.
The route and schedule changes that will take effect Sept. 19 will apply to routes operated by all three of our yellow bus partners – First Student, Durham and Rejha.
Many of our current routes will have changes, though not every route. Please read your updated transportation letter closely when you receive it. You also can view your changes now using the My Ride K-12 mobile app.
Your route information currently in the My Ride app will be effective Sept. 19. Families with students already assigned to a route should continue to follow those schedules for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week (Sept. 16-18). New students being assigned to a bus for the first time will have service beginning Sept. 19.
You can call our Transportation Department with any questions at (518) 475-6170.
My Ride mobile app
Route information and updates throughout the school year are available through the My Ride K-12 mobile app. Use these links to download the app:
The My Ride app allows families to access their own secure data for bus stop location, route number and pick-up/drop-off times. The My Ride app also can share real-time bus ETAs, reducing time spent waiting at the stop and helping families monitor their student’s location after they have boarded the bus.
Bus tracking GPS services through My Ride will be activated beginning Monday, Sept. 23.
When registering your My Ride account you will need to provide basic contact information as well your child’s student ID number. Once the registration process is completed, the owner of the account will have the option to share student data with one additional person.
Should you have any questions, please reach out to the Transportation Department at (518) 475-6170.
We highly recommend utilizing the My Ride feature as it will provide vital transportation information for your student. We also encourage you to opt-in to receive SchoolMessenger text messages when buses are running behind schedule (you’ll also automatically receive SchoolMessenger email notifications when a bus is late as long as your email information in SchoolTool is accurate).
Additional information for families
Throughout the school year, if you have questions about your bus in the morning or afternoon, contact your assigned provider first:
- Durham: (518) 237-4514
- First Student: (518) 445-6372
- Rejha: (518) 433-7433, ext. 2
Please have your student at their stop 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time, and allow 10 minutes past before you call your provider for an ETA. We will send a sweeper bus only if your student misses the bus due to driver error, not if your student was not ready when the bus arrived.
We send SchoolMessenger email and text notifications when buses are 15 minutes or more behind schedule.
We also ask that you talk with your student about bus safety reminders: always stay seated while the bus is moving, be respectful of everyone at all times, and be sure to take all of their belongings with them when they get off the bus.
Thank you for your partnership and support. We hope you have a great school year!
