Oct. 14-18 is School Board Recognition Week! That means it’s time to spotlight the efforts of the seven people who serve on the City School District of Albany Board of Education.
As our board members, they work tirelessly, without compensation, on behalf of our students, our staff and our schools. Board members develop our school district’s vision and goals, and their overarching mission is to raise student achievement.
Our board members evaluate district resources, programs and policies. They develop the annual school budget that Albany residents vote on each year. As elected officials, they are held accountable by the people of Albany, and in turn, they hold us accountable. Moreover, they are they are fierce advocates for all our students.
Thank you, President Sridar Chittur, Ph.D., Vice President Tabetha Wilson, Secretary Ellen Krejci, and members Hassan I. Elminyawi, Damarise Mann, Anne Savage and Vickie Smith. The importance of your work cannot be overstated, and we appreciate you.
