The City School District of Albany is seeking two parents or guardians to serve on the district-wide Health and Safety Committee, which monitors the condition of all buildings to assure they are safe and maintained properly.
Volunteers will join district employees on the committee in the following activities:
- Participate in the investigtation and disposition of health and safety complaints
- Consult with district officials in completing safety ratings of all occupied school buildings
- Monitor safety during school construction projects, including periodic meetings to review issues and address complaints related to health and safety resulting from the project
- Upon completion of a construction project, conduct a walkthrough inspection to ensure the area is ready to be reopened for use

The Board of Education is scheduled to consider the parent or guardian committee appointments at its Nov. 21 meeting. Following that step, the first meeting with the new members will be Dec. 12.
