School water testing update

The online version of a story in Thursday’s Times Union about water testing results in Capital Region schools included results from the City School District of Albany. We would like to clarify that the published results for our school district are from the 2020-21 school year, the last time our district was required to conduct this testing in alignment with New York State Health Department regulations.
 
In compliance with state Health Department regulations, the district plans to conduct water testing again in the spring of this year. We will communicate those results with our entire school community after testing is completed.
 
In 2020-21, 10 district buildings, including the Harriet Gibbons Student Services Center, had one or more outlet that exceeded the state’s limit for lead of 15 parts per billion (ppb). All other district buildings had no results above that limit.
