Falcons are Mock Trial county champions!

Mock trial team at their match against Albany Academy on April 8

The verdict is in: Albany High holds the title of Mock Trial county champions for the second year in a row!

On Tuesday evening, our Falcons faced off against Albany Academy and won! Now 5-0, they will compete in the regional tournament in Schenectady county on Saturday, April 26. Our region includes Albany, Schenectady, Schoharie, Green, Columbia, Rensselaer, Washington, Saratoga, Warren, Hamilton, Essex, Clinton, Franklin and St. Lawrence counties.

In Mock Trial, high school students are assigned to either the plaintiff or defense side of a case. This year's trial, Leyton Manns v. Sandy Townes, focuses on the intriguing topic of deep fakes produced using artificial intelligence.

We are proud of the 17 students who have performed with excellence this season. Having the opportunity to compete in a courtroom setting and adhere to the same rules as professional attorneys is an such an enriching and exhilarating way to gain experience!

This year, our Falcons have been fortunate to have the mentorship of two attorneys, Carolyn George and Judge Josh Farrell, as well as the faithful support of club advisor Leah Powhida.

Let’s go Falcons!
