Celebrating reading in many languages!

Dinosaur and woman read to class

It’s Multilingual Literacy Week at Albany International Academy, and on Tuesday, mystery guests visited Dual Language and Newcomer classrooms to read and chat in many languages.

And oh, what a collection of readers! A firefighter, a dinosaur, school board members, police officers, a princess, the mom of a teacher, the chief diversity and inclusion officer for a state agency, therapy dogs and their people, and much more. Also, returning home was Melanie Pores, a retired longtime bilingual teacher who helped found the Dual Language Program.
