College Information Night

The Albany High School Guidance Department will be hosting a College Information Night for students in grades 10-11 and their families. It will include an overview of the college search and application process. Anyone who is considering post-high school education━ whether it is at a four-year or two-year college, a business college, or technical school━should attend. 

The program will start promptly at 6 p.m. in the auditorium. The program begins with a College Admissions Overview, then moves into a presentation on community college admissions and financial aid. There will also be opportunity to learn about special New York State programs such as EOP/HEOP as well as SchooLinks, the online college support tool that helps families research colleges and explore careers. 


Additional program details:

6 p.m.: Welcome/college admissions overview

You’ll learn about the college admissions process, including researching colleges, finding schools that are the right fit, admissions requirements, trends in competitive college admissions and a planning timeline.

6:30 p.m.: Community college opportunities

Learn about the two-year college admission options. Gain an understanding of the programs and certificate options, as well as articulation/transfer opportunities that Hudson Valley has to offer. 

7:00 p.m.: Financial Aid 101

This workshop focuses on grants, scholarships, loans and work-study, and it will cover the different sources of financial aid and the process for applying.  


Ample parking is provided at both the Washington Avenue parking lot and the Main Avenue lot. Please use the main entrance on Washington Avenue to enter the school. If you have any questions, please contact the College and Career Center at (518) 475-6279.
