Bronze finish for district percussionists

Bronze finish for district percussionists

Congratulations to 23 City School District of Albany musicians who participated in the Percussion Independent A (PIA) class of the New York State Percussion Circuit Finals on Sunday, April 7.

The students, who range in age from grades 7-12, competed against four other ensembles – including two colleges teams – and brought home a bronze medal for their hard work. It's important to note that our percussionists narrowly missed silver by .46 at the state-wide event in Syracuse.

It was the Albany Indoor Percussion Ensemble’s highest score of the year and the team's first medal.

2019 marked the ensembles fifth year of existence and fourth year of competition.

The mission of the City School District of Albany is to educate and prepare all students for college and career, citizenship and life, in partnership with our diverse community. The district serves approximately 9,500 students in 18 elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students, including four themed academies at Albany High School.
