The votes are in: Albany High School senior Rihana Fraser’s turkey chili recipe was rated the best at Saturday’s chili cook-off at Abrookin Career and Technical Center.
The event featured more than a dozen homemade chili recipes created and made by culinary students, whose fare was sampled and judged by people who attended.
In addition to eating great food, adventurous chili fans could climb a rock wall provided by our community partners at Army National Guard. Citizenship Academy Principal Kandie Antonetti and Abrookin teacher and Chef Lisa Valentine were among the intrepid climbers.
Recipes by sophomores Jean Keefe and Ciara Haugh took second and third place. Assisting at the event were members of Albany High’s Junior ROTC. Proceeds raised will support students’ participation in SkillsUSA, a career and technical student organization that hosts local, regional, state and national competitions.
