Albany High School will return to regular in-person operations Thursday after workers repaired the faulty air conditioning system in the old academic building.

All in-person instruction at Albany High, including all classes at Abrookin Career and Technical Center, will resume Thursday on the normal schedule. Distance learners also will continue to follow their regular schedules.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked as quickly as possible to resolve this problem during this week's heat wave.

All Albany High School students had a distance learning day Wednesday due to continued failures in the air conditioning system in the old academic building. That included students with classes at Abrookin Career and Technical Center.

The air conditioning system malfunctioned in the old academic building Tuesday morning, but was repaired and operating normally in the afternoon. However, the system failed again later in the day Tuesday and was not able to be repaired in time for the start of the school day Wednesday.

With temperatures once again forecast for the mid-80s with high humidity, both Albany High and Abrookin shifted to distance learning for all students Wednesday. Students were asked to log in to their Google Classroom at the start of the day and follow their regular schedule for the day online.

Students were able to pick up breakfast and lunch at Albany High from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, or at any of the other meal pickup locations at district schools city-wide.
