Albany High School held the first of its three American Red Cross blood drives on Thursday, with students, staff and community members rolling up their sleeves to help save lives and alleviate the nationwide emergency blood shortage.
Seniors Alison and Elizabeth Powell coordinated the event under the guidance of Albany High librarian Alicia Abdul, and the trio will run two more drives throughout the year.
