Get COVID-19 test kits starting Tuesday

COVID-19 home test pickup

Starting Tuesday, Albany High School will distribute COVID-19 home test kits to parents and guardians of students who did not yet receive them.

The school will provide one kit for each Albany Highy student, and each kit contains two tests. For the health and safety of all, parents and guardians are reminded to wear face masks when they pick up their student's test kit. Parents and guardians will need to provide their student's name, grade and date of birth prior to receiving a test kit.

The pickup schedule follows:

Tuesday, Jan. 4

  • 4-6 p.m., Tower 1 and Tower 2 entrances (in the old buildling, immediately off the Washington Avenue parking lot).

Wednesday, Jan. 5

  • 4-6 p.m., Tower 1 and Tower 2 entrances (in the old buildling, immediately off the Washington Avenue parking lot).

Thursday, Jan. 6

  • 4-6 p.m., Tower 1 and Tower 2 entrances (in the old buildling, immediately off the Washington Avenue parking lot).

Friday, Jan. 7

  • 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Tower 2 entrance to building

Instructions for testing

  • Please use one test the morning after you pick up the test kit, prior to sending your child to school. Read the directions included in the test kit completely prior to using the test.
  • The test will take a little more than 10 minutes to complete. Please plan accordingly.
  • Please note that test results should be read at 10 minutes, and not later than 15 minutes. 
  • If your child tests positive (+), please do the following:
    • Keep your child home from school;
    • Take a photo of the positive test and the test kit;
    • Report the positive case to the Albany County Department of Health, using this link;
    • Notify one of the school nurses.
