Board of Education Scholarship
This program, established through the generosity of an Albany High School graduate, provides numerous scholarships to eligible seniors.
About the scholarship
To be eligible, current seniors must have met all graduation requirements and completed all four years at Albany High School.
Eligible students may compete for up to two scholarships in a dozen different academic areas. Each scholarship is worth $1,000 per year for a maximum of four years – potentially a total of $4,000. These funds are intended exclusively for non-tuition college expenses (room and board, books and so forth).

Douglas W. Lincoln scholarship
This scholarship is open to all seniors who are planning to attend an accredited college or university after graduation. An application is enclosed. Historically, there have been four $1,000 scholarship offered to eligible students.
Who was Douglas W. Lincoln?
Douglas W. Lincoln served as principal of the Albany High School from 1959 to 1967. Lincoln was himself a graduate of the Albany High School, and after graduating from college returned to his alma mater as a teacher. During his long association with the school, he also served as guidance counselor, supervisor of social studies and assistant principal. Lincoln died in 1974. In his will, he established a trust fund to provide college scholarship for Albany High School students.
About the scholarship
Selection is based on academic excellence, character and financial need. A committee composed of the principal, a guidance counselor and a teacher will decide which students will
receive scholarships. The scholarships are awarded for one year but may be renewed at the discretion of the committee. The scholarship amount will be determined by the committee on the basis of financial need and may be distributed to more than one applicant, including any present recipients currently enrolled in college.
