PE swim unit at Albany High School

The following is an important message from John Galarneau, Supervisor of Physical Education and Health:

The physical education classes at Albany High School will begin swimming and pool safety lessons during the months of May and June.

The weather will quickly change in the coming months and our students will be looking for places to cool off. Going to a local swimming pool is a great choice! We believe that the swim unit in PE allows all students to develop and/or grow their  swimming skills. The program includes age-appropriate lessons that will build student knowledge and understanding of aquatic safety and life-long skills.

Your student will be assigned to a swim group based on their physical education teacher and the unit lasts two weeks. Students will need to bring a swimsuit, towel and flip flops/slides to school.  According to state regulations, there are no exemptions from physical education other than a doctor’s note for medical or religious reasons. Parents/guardians should contact their physical education teacher and academy nurse with any concerns that would limit swim unit participation.
