Cookie-making frenzy

Culinary student holds up a measuring cup overflowing with butter

Chef Lisa Valentine’s kitchen at Albany High School’s Abrookin Career and Technical Center hummed with activity Tuesday as advanced culinary students measured, mixed and baked a variety of holiday cookies to be served Friday at the city’s Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Take a look at some Facebook photos from their work. (You don't need a Facebook account to see the pictures linked in the highlighted text. A window may appear that says, “To see more from Albany City Schools on Facebook, log on or create an account,” but you can dismiss it by clicking “not now.”)

By the end of the week, students will have made and decorated some 600 cookies for the event using a variety of different recipes. The aspiring bakers also will be on hand to serve the goodies at the ceremony, which will be held at 5 p.m. Friday in Academy Park (across from City Hall). Stop by and sample their work!
