Ambassadors of holiday cheer

Singing students dressed in holiday clothes

Albany High School provided cookies, carols and cheer Friday evening at the City of Albany tree lighting.

Advanced culinary students distributed delicious cookies they’d spent the week preparing. Members of the Albanettes and Troubadours choirs warmed up their voices in City Hall then sang carols to families and community members who attended the lighting in Academy Park. And Sgt. Henry Johnson Battalion Junior ROTC cadets were there in uniform, providing good will.

Culinary students were there with their teacher, Chef Lisa Valentine. Choral students were led by teacher Brendan Hoffman, and JROTC cadets were accompanied by Maj. David Erickson.

Superintendent Kaweeda G. Adams also was on hand, along with Community Engagement Coordinator Cathy Edmondson, who handed out information about the City School District of Albany.
