Film students learn from the pros

Two students operate professional studio cameras

Students in Theresa Story’s film class at Albany High School spent Tuesday learning from the pros (and our community partners!) at Channel Albany Community Media, the local public access television studio.

Students Victoria Suarez and Barbara Kirchgraber interviewed Channel Albany’s Qaadir Islam, and there will be an edited version of their video airing soon on Channels 1301, 1302 and 1303 on Spectrum.

Studio Coordinator Aprecia “Preem” Cabey welcomed the class, and students had a chance to experience filming and producing a segment. They also met retired Albany High Principal Dale Getto, who serves on the studio’s Public, Education and Government Access Oversight Board.

Joining Story and her class were Lindsay Simmons, work-based learning coordinator and business teacher at Albany High.

Take a look at some Facebook photos from their trip. (You don't need a Facebook account to see the pictures linked in the highlighted text. A window may appear that says, “To see more from Albany City Schools on Facebook, log on or create an account,” but you can dismiss it by clicking “not now.”)
