Senior singer selected for statewide choir

Student holds his award certificate surrounded by mom and three school administrators

Albany High School senior Shaquin Robinson has one of the lead roles in the spring musical “Sister Act” – which opens tonight, Thursday – and he was recognized by the New York State School Musical Association (NYSSMA) for being being an alternate to a statewide chorus.

Principal Jodi Commerford, Discovery Academy Principal Jordan Goldman and Assistant Principal Michael Lopez, and mom Clarissa (who also works at Albany High) presented Shaquin with a NYSSMA certificate Tuesday recognizing his selection to Conference All-State Alternate Chorus.

He was selected from some 6,500 students from around the state after an extensive application and audition process that began during his junior year.

Congratulations, Shaquin!
