Author visits are back!

Author Candace Fleming spent Wednesday at Albany High School, and Forensic Sciences students were spellbound as Fleming recounted the story of Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb, two wealthy students who murdered a 14-year-old neighbor in Chicago in 1924.

Fleming’s talk was connected to her book, “Murder Among Friends: How Leopold and Loeb Tried to Commit the Perfect Crime.” She shared details of her intensive research about the crime, which garnered widespread media attention.

Fleming also has written nonfiction on a variety of topics in the natural world, including giant squid, honeybees and polar bears. Earlier in the day, she spoke to Living Environment classes about those books.

Fleming’s visit officially resumed the Albany High library’s tradition of bringing in published authors to discuss their work.
