News of the week

  • No student parking in school lots – Students who drive to school may not park their cars in the school's parking lots on Washington Avenue and North Main Avenue. Students who drive to school should park in legal spots on the streets around the school.
  • Traveling between Albany High and Abrookin – All students with classes at Abrookin Career and Technical Center must take the bus to Abrookin from Albany High and back. This will ensure student safety, allow students to avoid having to go back through security, and help prevent students from being late. Students who do not take the bus will not be allowed to re-enter school without parent or guardian contact. Students can catch the bus at Building 2, Tower 2-2.
  • Leaving and returning to school during the day – Albany High is a closed campus, meaning students cannot leave school during the day – including during lunch and study halls – without parent or guardian permission. Students who leave without a valid reason will not be allowed to re-enter without parent or guardian contact.
  • Appointment reminders – A student with a daytime appointment must have a note from their parent or guardian, and the parent or guardian must sign out the student before they leave. In addition, a parent or guardian must provide a note or call school before a student can return.
  • Grading and attendance update – Learn about the findings and recommendations of a district committee that examined grading and attendance policies at our school and district middle schools at meetings this Monday and on May 31. Learn more.
  • Career Fair on Thursday – Students, families and community members are invited  to meet with representatives from businesses and trade unions to learn about jobs available in the Capital Region and skills required for them. In some cases, there will be job interviews – don’t forget to bring your resume! Open to students only 1-3:30 p.m.; family and community members, 3:30-5 p.m.
  • Attention seniors and families – Visit albanyschools.org/2023 for important information about cap and gown pickup, getting a Class of 2023 lawn/window sign and other important graduation-related events and activities.
  • Grads off to great schools – Albany High seniors historically are accepted into the best colleges and universities in the country, and the Class of 2023 is no different. This year's graduates have been accepted at over 130 public and private universities throughout the country. Get a list here.
